Probate Article from NH Bar
This article summarizes the process of post-death estate administration in NH:

This well-written article is published by the New Hampshire Bar Association as a public service to help individuals better understand the process of post-death probate administration.

As you will see from the article, estate administration can be fairly complex. If you have been named as an Executor in someone's will, you should understand that you are a legal fiduciary who will be held to a high standard of care as you go through the process of administering the estate. It is always a good idea to have the help of an attorney to guide and counsel you along the way.

As a side note, probate court proceedings can be completely avoided through the use of a comprehensive estate plan. A last will and testament by itself is not enough.

The website linked here provides a good overview of the often very misunderstood Medicaid program. Please remember however, that it should only be used as a general reference. The Medicaid laws and regulations here in New Hampshire are extremely complex. Always consult an attorney before making any decisions that might impact Medicaid eligibility.
